DIY Halloween Gravestone Craft for Kids Using Recycled Materials
Looking for a fun Halloween craft that lets kids get creative with recycled materials? This DIY gravestone project is not only easy and budget-friendly, but also a fantastic way to reuse those cardboard boxes you probably have lying around.
Step 1: Grab a Cardboard Box
Got an old Amazon box? Perfect!
Start by cutting out a gravestone shape from the cardboard. This is a great way for kids to practice their cutting skills and get involved in the process.
Step 2: Add Texture
We wanted our gravestone to have a rough, stone-like look. To create this effect, we tore strips of newspaper and layered them on the cardboard with glue. The uneven texture adds an awesome "aged" effect once it's painted.
Step 3: Paint It Spooky
Once the glue is dry, it’s time to paint!
We chose shades of grey and black for that classic haunted feel, but feel free to add your own spooky twist. Let the paint dry while you move on to the next step.
Step 4: Make the Eyes
Using scrap pieces of cardboard, we cut out eye shapes to attach to our gravestone. This gives it a spooky, watchful look that’s sure to impress trick-or-treaters.
Step 5: Add a Creepy Hand
For the final touch, we traced around our hands on another piece of scrap cardboard, cut them out, and stuck them on as if a creepy hand was coming up from behind the gravestone. It’s an easy way to make it extra eerie!
Why We Love It
This craft is awesome because it’s made entirely from recycled materials, turning household "waste" into a unique Halloween decoration. It’s creative, fun, and shows kids the magic of reusing materials.
Turning things into other things just like MAGIC!!
