MY THRIFT SHOP FINDS...
THE KING OF THE BEASTS
It was absolutely my lucky day when I stumbled across this silver Lion with a broken crown in my local Thrift Shop. I took one look at his face with an up-cycle mind and I just new he had to be mine!
I decided to dig out some old tester pots of paint I was gifted then set on giving him a new lease of life. I used Dulux Royal Blue and Costal Grey for the main parts of the body, adding some of the lighter colour to highlight his mane. Left him to dry over night and then gave him 2 layers of Polyurethane sealer.
I wasn't sure if my next plan would work to fix his broken crown but I love a challenge.
So, using some modelling clay I set about his crown. I took a piece of clay, and I moulded a section of the unbroken crown that was similar size. By gently pressing the clay into the broken section to create a cast.
I decided to mould the section on the the crown using E6000 glue then left to dry over night. Once it was dry, I could easily paint over the clay section.
He is now loving life proudly sitting in his new home!!
